Licensing brings together marketing, commerce, creation, and the relationship between a rights holder and a user under the notion of intellectual property.

In other words, licensing is a marketing term for license management.

A license is a commercial and legal agreement that protects the creator or beneficiary of a software, a work, or a product. The license gives to a third party the right to use this creation, this domain, according to predefined conditions. In doing so, the beneficiary does not transfer his property in any way.

Licensing refers to the granting of a license : the granting of an exploitation right. The license holder is referred to as the “licensor” while the purchaser is known as the “licensee”.

The software license relates to computer programs. This document lists the rights that the “licensor” grants to the “licensee”. These include the installation of the software, its use, the possibility of making a backup copy… Using any software without a license therefore violates its copyright.

In licensing, the beneficiary can add any requirements, such as prohibiting the study of the software, publishing performance measures, etc. Buying software is often the same as getting a license and then agreeing to the end user license agreement, which details the specific terms of the licensing agreement.

Licensing takes several forms for the idruide Education suite products, depending on your needs.

Single account
This license agreement grants 1 nominative account for a digital terminal. The single account therefore concerns the case where each user has his own device. In this case, he benefits from a 100% dedicated storage space, an account opened as soon as the digital terminal is switched on, and can bring the device home while benefiting from web filtering, access to his ENT, etc.
For example : a single student uses his personal device, whether it belongs to the school but he is assigned to it, or whether it belongs to him (BYOD).

Multi accounts
This license agreement designates 5 nominative accounts for one device. This type of licensing meets the needs of the mobile class. It integrates several private spaces for specific users on the same device.
For example : a device is destined to remain within the school establishment and to be used by the same 2, 3, 4 or 5 students.

Self service
There is a free use of the device, with no nominative account on a tablet. Therefore, there is no limit to the number of users on the hardware. With this type of licensing, it is the administrator who personalizes the entire digital environment of the device.
For example : using a tablet as a pointing tool in the school’s cafeteria.

Floating account
This is a nominative account that can be used on several devices. This personal user account can be used on any device using a QR Code or an ID (username and password), in full security.
For example : any user who has an account can connect to it from a digital fleet tablet.
